Robert W. Snyder, longtime high school history teacher

Snyder Snyder Robert W. Snyder, 81, of Clarence Center, formerly of Williamsville, died Friday, May 4, 2018.

Mr. Snyder was born in Niagara Falls and was a graduate of Williamsville High School in

1955. He graduated in 1959 from Alfred University where he met his wife, Marcia Linberg.

Mr. Snyder received his master’s degree in teaching from the University of Buffalo. He spent most of his 37 years of teaching at Williamsville South and North high schools and several years at the Consolata Mission Seminary as a history teacher.

Mr. Snyder was adviser to the National Honor Society and especially cherished his time as the coach to the Williamsville North team for the TV program “It’s Academic.”

He served on various committees, taught Sunday School and was a leader of Mid Years Plus Ministry group for seven years for Christ United Methodist Church.

Mr. Snyder was a model train railroader and car enthusiast, and he also had a cottage on Rushford Lake, a place for picnics, boating and swimming with his grandchildren.

In addition to his wife of 58 years, Mr. Snyder is survived by three children, Gary, Susan Gorman and Karen Jones, and six grandchildren.

A memorial service was held May 12 at Christ United Methodist Church. Arrangements were made by Amigone Funeral Home.
