Arline Deckert, former public school teacher
Arline Deckert (nee Thompson), of Clarence, died Monday, May 21, 2018.
Mrs. Deckert was born in Albany, New York, in 1921 and was a graduate of Buffalo State Teachers College. She was a resident of Clarence for 40 years and was a public school teacher in Williamsville and Clarence for 21 years.
A partner in the Clarence Center Emporium, Mrs. Deckert also was the president of the Clarence Country Club from 1994 to 1996 and was a former member of the Lancaster and Brookfield country clubs.
She also was a member of the following clubs: The New York State Retired Teachers Association, Society for the Prevention of Cruelty to Animals, Buffalo State College Alumni Association and the Clarence Historical Society.
Mrs. Deckert is survived by one niece, Karen Tower. She was preceded in death by her husband, James, and one sibling, Margaret Schenk.
A memorial service was held on May 24 in Williamsville United Methodist Church. Arrangements were made by the Beach-Tuyn Funeral Home Inc. Memorials may be made to Buffalo State or the SPCA.
