Man charged with theft from charity event

Saturday, June 30,

Deputies responded to a complaint of a man who was accused of inappropriately touching another person at a town event. A 54-year-old man was charged with forcible touching, endangering the welfare of a minor, sexual abuse, disorderly conduct and harassment. The man allegedly touched a 15-year-old girl multiple times. He was remanded to the Erie County Holding Center pending arraignment.

Sunday, July 1

A resident of Green Valley Drive reported that a person with a flashlight was walking around the neighborhood. Patrol checked the street with negative results.

A resident of Stage Road complained about a neighbor who was shooting off fireworks. Patrol checked the area but saw no fireworks.

Monday, July 2

• Deputies arrested a 32-year-old man for criminal contempt in the second degree. Deputies saw him and another man walking in the area of Main Street and Transit Road. The deputies were aware that the other man had a stay away order of protection in place for an earlier incident involving the two. The first man was remanded to the Holding Center pending arraignment.

Tuesday, July 3

A detective from the Sheriff’s Office arrested a 47-year-old man on charges of grand larceny in the fourth degree. He allegedly stole money that had been raised at an event in Clarence that was supposed to have been donated to Western New York Heroes. The man allegedly stole $2,100 dollars from the event and an additional $3,300 dollars from an event in the Town of Tonawanda. He was also arrested by Tonawanda detectives.

Wednesday, July 4

A group of teens reported that while they were at a party at Spaulding Lake, someone took their backpacks. The incident is under investigation.

Thursday, July 5

A resident of Capstone Court reported that someone had stolen patio furniture from her.

Friday, July 6

Deputies responded to a report of a disturbance on Hedgewood Drive. A 59-year-old man was charged with criminal obstruction of breathing, harassment and criminal mischief, the latter for disabling a telephone. He was remanded to the Holding Center pending arraignment.

Deputies stopped a vehicle for a speeding infraction on Lapp Road. A 22-year-old man was also charged with aggravated unlicensed operation of a motor vehicle in the third degree. He was released on traffic tickets pending arraignment.
